Manchester United Plan Nine-Player Clearout in Major Summer Overhaul

Manchester United are preparing for a significant squad overhaul this summer, with reports indicating that up to nine players could leave Old Trafford as part of a wider restructuring plan. The club’s priority is to reshape its midfield, with several incoming transfers expected once departures are finalised.

Central midfield has been identified as the key area requiring attention. Casemiro is set to depart when his contract expires at the end of the season, bringing an end to his time in Manchester after two years. His exit will leave a gap in experience and defensive presence, prompting the need for reinforcements capable of handling the physical and tactical demands of the Premier League.

There is also uncertainty surrounding Manuel Ugarte, who has struggled to establish consistency since his arrival. United are understood to be open to offers for the midfielder as part of their attempt to refresh the squad. His potential departure would increase the urgency to bring in multiple midfield options during the transfer window.

Several other players are expected to leave as contracts expire or loan deals reach their conclusion. Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia are both approaching the end of their current agreements, with no indication that extensions will be pursued. Their exits are part of a broader effort to reduce squad size and create space for new signings.

Rasmus Hojlund could also be involved in a permanent transfer away from the club. Napoli are reportedly obliged to complete a £38 million deal if they secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League. The Italian side require five points from their remaining fixtures to confirm their place, which would activate the clause tied to his loan arrangement.

Interim manager Michael Carrick has indicated that he is satisfied with the options available in that area of the squad.
