Chelsea legend urges Palmer to stay at Stamford Bridge after the 23-year-old overtakes club greats amid fresh transfer rumours

John Terry Sends Clear Message to Cole Palmer as Chelsea Star Is Linked With Manchester United Again

John Terry has delivered a clear and heartfelt message to Cole Palmer after fresh reports once again linked the Chelsea star with a potential move to Manchester United.

The rumours may have sounded far-fetched back in January, but they have refused to go away. Claims resurfaced suggesting Palmer could be open to leaving Stamford Bridge, with Manchester United named as a possible destination. Both Palmer himself and Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior have already dismissed the idea, yet speculation has continued to grow following another stunning weekend performance from the 23-year-old.

Reports earlier this year claimed Palmer was unhappy at Chelsea and even feeling homesick, pointing to visible frustration during matches, including at full-time against Brentford. However, those close to the club were quick to explain that his reactions were linked to discomfort from a groin injury rather than any desire to leave. Rosenior publicly backed his player, describing Palmer as “untouchable” and central to Chelsea’s long-term plans.

Palmer appeared to put the issue to bed himself after scoring a sensational hat-trick on Saturday. Speaking candidly, he dismissed the rumours using blunt language, making it clear he is focused on his football at Chelsea. With a contract running until June 2033, the Blues remain firmly in control of his future.

Despite that, reports after the weekend suggested Chelsea would at least listen if an offer in the region of £150 million arrived, and that Palmer might consider a move to Old Trafford. For Chelsea supporters, the idea is almost unthinkable. Palmer has quickly become the face of the club’s rebuild and one of the most exciting players in the Premier League.

John Terry Sends Clear Message to Cole Palmer as Chelsea Star Is Linked With Manchester United Again

John Terry, a man who understands what it means to represent Chelsea, has now added his voice to the conversation. Speaking on his TikTok channel, the club legend praised Palmer’s achievements and made it clear he hopes the forward stays at Stamford Bridge for many years to come.

@johnterry26Congratulations Cole Palmer 3 goals yesterday and overtaken JT in the All Time Premier League Goal scorers for Chelsea FC 💙 Do you think Cole can beat Frank Lampards record ? #colepalmer #chelseafc #chelsea #cfc #football♬ Swoosh Electric Sound – 佚名

Palmer recently became Chelsea’s eighth-highest Premier League goalscorer of all time, reaching 42 league goals for the club. That achievement is remarkable on its own, but even more so when you consider he is still just 23 years old. Terry himself was the player Palmer overtook in the rankings, dropping the former captain down to ninth place.

“Congratulations Cole Palmer on your hat-trick, but also for surpassing JT in the all-time Chelsea Premier League goals record list,” Terry said. “Now in eighth, JT knocked down to ninth. This is one record I don’t mind losing.”

Terry went on to highlight just how special Palmer’s numbers already are. In 84 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, Palmer has scored 44 goals, an outstanding return for a player who is not a traditional centre-forward. Terry added: “Hopefully, your goals continue, your form continues, and we can keep you at our football club for many years to come and keep adding to that tally. Incredible.”

He also set Palmer a new target, noting that Diego Costa is now next on the list. “Eight now behind Diego Costa, he’s the next one you need to chase down,” Terry said, suggesting Palmer could climb even higher in Chelsea’s history before the season is out.

Palmer’s impact goes beyond league goals. Across all competitions, he has now scored 51 goals in 114 appearances for Chelsea. For comparison, Didier Drogba had scored 49 goals after the same number of games. Overtaking a club icon like Drogba at this stage of his career underlines just how productive Palmer has been since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

There have been some minor fitness concerns, with Rosenior managing Palmer carefully after substituting him around the hour mark against Wolves. However, the Chelsea boss has confirmed that Palmer is fit and available ahead of the clash with Leeds, easing fears of another injury setback.

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has also praised Palmer, suggesting his form is comparable to that of a top-class number nine. Palmer is close to averaging a goal every other game in a Chelsea shirt, a level of consistency few attackers in the league can match.

When all factors are considered, it is difficult to see Palmer leaving Chelsea any time soon. The club view him as a cornerstone of their future, the manager has publicly backed him, and a figure like John Terry has effectively urged him to carry on building his legacy in blue. Just as importantly, the reaction from supporters would be fierce if Chelsea were to cash in on one of their brightest talents.

For now, Palmer remains focused on scoring goals, breaking records, and leading Chelsea forward. And if John Terry’s message carries any weight, the hope at Stamford Bridge is that this is only the beginning of a long and historic career in a Chelsea shirt.
