Oklahoma Sooners Celebrate a Major Commitment: Miranda Stoddard, Pitcher/Infield, Commits to Oklahoma Sooners Softball

 

The Oklahoma Sooners softball program has secured a significant commitment with the addition of Miranda Stoddard, a graduate transfer pitcher and infielder from the University of Arizona. This move bolsters an already formidable roster and adds depth to both the pitching staff and infield positions.

Stoddard’s collegiate journey began at the University of Kentucky, where she showcased her dual-threat capabilities. During her tenure there, she compiled an 11–4 record with a 3.56 ERA over 141.2 innings pitched. Offensively, she maintained a .240 batting average, hitting 13 doubles and 18 home runs, and driving in 67 RBIs across three seasons.

In 2024, Stoddard transferred to the University of Arizona, where she continued to excel. That season, she appeared in 44 games, starting 23, and recorded a 6–9 record with a 3.94 ERA. She also contributed offensively, maintaining a .280 batting average.

Stoddard’s performance at Arizona did not go unnoticed. In March 2025, she was named the Big 12 Player of the Week for the second time that season. During a series sweep against Utah, she went 5-for-7 with two home runs and a double, driving in five runs. Additionally, she pitched 3.1 innings in relief, allowing one earned run.

Head coach Patty Gasso has emphasized the importance of versatility and depth in building a championship-caliber team. Stoddard’s ability to contribute both in the circle and at the plate aligns with the program’s philosophy. Her experience in high-pressure situations and her leadership qualities are expected to make an immediate impact on the Sooners’ lineup.As the Sooners prepare for the upcoming season, the addition of Miranda Stoddard provides both immediate and long-term benefits.
