Man United Enter Transfer Battle for Leipzig Star as Amorim Exit Sparks Major Rebuild

Manchester United are bracing themselves for a significant period of change following the surprise dismissal of Ruben Amorim, a decision that has left the club reassessing its direction both on and off the pitch.

Despite being highly rated, Bitshiabu has found opportunities hard to come by this season, making just five appearances in all competitions since joining Leipzig in the summer of 2023.

As a result, the Ligue 1 side have identified Bitshiabu as a priority target and are said to favour a loan move during the winter window. However, due to financial limitations, Monaco are believed to be pushing for a deal without an option to buy, a condition that may not appeal to Leipzig.

Lyon are also keeping a close eye on the situation as they explore ways to reinforce their own defensive unit, adding further competition for the Frenchman’s signature.

According to reports from L’Equipe, Manchester United are among several clubs monitoring Bitshiabu’s availability, alongside Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen. Both clubs are understood to be considering loan proposals that could include an option to make the move permanent.

For United, the appeal is clear. Bitshiabu fits the profile of a modern central defender: tall, powerful and still at an age where significant development is possible. Standing out as a physically imposing presence, he offers the kind of raw attributes that can be refined under the right coaching structure.

His contract with RB Leipzig runs until June 2029, meaning the German club are under no immediate pressure to sell. That said, Leipzig may be open to a temporary move that allows the player to gain valuable first-team experience elsewhere, particularly if it comes with financial incentives or future guarantees.

From United’s perspective, any move for Bitshiabu would likely form part of a broader, longer-term defensive plan. Amorim’s exit has left uncertainty around tactical direction, but it has also created an opportunity to reset. Bringing in a young defender on loan would provide depth and competition without committing the club to major spending before a permanent manager is in place.

Bitshiabu’s background adds further intrigue. He began his senior career at Paris Saint-Germain, one of Europe’s most demanding environments, before making the switch to Leipzig in search of regular football. While that goal has not yet been fully realised, his reputation as a high-potential prospect remains intact.

At Old Trafford, he could offer cover across the centre-back positions while learning the demands of the Premier League. United’s defensive issues in recent seasons have often been exposed by injuries and inconsistency, and the addition of a young, hungry player could help ease that burden.

Crucially, a loan deal with an option to buy would give United flexibility. It would allow the next head coach to assess Bitshiabu up close before deciding whether he fits into the club’s long-term vision, reducing the risk associated with permanent signings during a period of transition.

As the race for the French defender gathers pace, United appear prepared to act if the right opportunity arises. With Monaco, Lyon and Bayer Leverkusen all circling, competition is expected to be strong.
