"It Really Surprised Me" – Gary Neville Questions Liverpool's premier League position and chance of winning the league

Liverpool is currently on top of the Premier League and looking strong as they head into the last international break of the year. They’ve earned 10 out of 12 possible points in recent matches, giving them a solid five-point lead over Manchester City and putting them nine points ahead of Arsenal.

But even with this lead, former Manchester United stars Gary Neville and Roy Keane disagree on whether Liverpool has what it takes to keep up this form and win the Premier League title.

Gary Neville, now a football analyst, was surprised to see Liverpool marked as the top favorites for the title. On The Overlap podcast, he shared that he was shocked when Sky Sports showed Liverpool with a 60% chance of winning the title, while Manchester City had 34%, and Arsenal only 4.9%.

“It really surprised me,” Neville said. “I just don’t think that percentage is right at this point.” He’s not convinced that Liverpool can keep their lead, believing that City and Arsenal will still challenge them.

Roy Keane, on the other hand, thinks Liverpool has a strong chance. Keane has always believed in City’s strength, but he thinks this season might be different, especially with Liverpool’s current form and some injury problems at City.

“This season, things are different,” Keane said. “Liverpool is doing great after finishing third last year.” He mentioned that City’s recent issues with injured players like Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, and Jack Grealish could give Liverpool an advantage in the title race.

Since new manager Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool has been in top form. They have won an incredible 15 out of their first 17 games across all competitions. Keane praised Klopp for building a strong team that Slot has been able to take over, saying, “Klopp deserves credit for leaving behind such a good group of players. When Liverpool wins, they look in control.”

However, Keane also noted that like any team, Liverpool could have problems if they lose important players to injuries.

Liverpool’s next match is against Southampton, who are currently at the bottom of the league. Arsenal, meanwhile, will face Nottingham Forest, and Manchester City will play against Tottenham. With the race for the title heating up, fans will be eager to see if Liverpool can keep their lead, or if other top teams will close the gap.
