Former Arsenal academy star Mika Biereth is making waves at Sturm Graz, where he’s already become a standout player since his move to Austria. The 21-year-old forward joined Sturm Graz over the summer as their record signing and has quickly proven his worth on the field. With nine goals and five assists in just 15 games last season, he played a significant role in helping Sturm Graz secure a league and cup double and reach the Champions League.

Going back to Arsenal would be amazing, but I’m not focused on that right now.”

His performances in Austria have not only raised his profile but also led him to the Champions League, a dream for any player. Sturm Graz is currently at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga, with Biereth leading their attack as they compete in Europe’s biggest club competition. Reflecting on his time at Arsenal, Biereth admitted that leaving the club was a difficult decision. “Of course, I’m sad to have left Arsenal. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world, but now I’m playing Champions League football with Graz,” he said. “It’s only when you leave the Arsenal bubble that you understand how tough it is to make a name for yourself in professional football. When you’re 18 or 19 at Arsenal, that’s all you dream about, and if you don’t make it to the first team, it can feel like failure.”

Arsenal fans may wonder what could have been if Biereth had stayed, but he had stiff competition. In recent years, the Gunners have seen other young strikers like Folarin Balogun and Eddie Nketiah move on after failing to secure regular first-team opportunities.
