GAME 4 – EDMONTON OILERS 3 VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS 0 (EDM 3-1)

Recap: The Golden Knights were seeking to even up the series with a Game 4 victory in Edmonton. With under two minutes into the game the Oilers took an immediate lead. The opening period was messy with multiple penalties for each team. Once things settled down the Oilers scored again taking a 2-0 advantage.

Both teams traded chances in the middle frame but only Edmonton was able to find the back of the net. After 40 minutes the Oilers held on to a 3-0 edge.

Edmonton defended and played conservatively in the final twenty minutes. Vegas had a handful of quality chances but Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner stood tall and completed the 3-0 shutout.

The Golden Knights drop Game 4 and now trail the Oilers 3-1 in the best-of-seven game series. The two teams will face off again on Wednesday night in Las Vegas. Puck drop for Game 5 is scheduled for 6:30PM PT. (Recap by Jason)

Analysis: It only took a few minutes for this game to pick up in intensity and unfortunately, the Golden Knights did not respond to it as well as the Oilers did. Edmonton was flying around and VGK couldn’t seem to get their feet out of the mud. They allowed chances all around the net and ultimately found themselves in a dangerous hole. Then, their pushback just wasn’t strong enough. The forecheck never ramped up, they never found a way to spend much time in the O-Zone, and their low-to-high game paid no dividends. Getting shutout in a playoff game always hurts, doing it to a guy sporting a +5.00 GAA is devastating. (Recap by Ken)

A mountain to climb now
Ken’s Three VGK Stars

To be fair, the Kane hit showed he was clearly pushed into Hill by McNabb. It even looked like Kane was trying to twist out of the way for a second. There was literally nowhere else for him to go.
The Janmark skate-by was cheap, but he did the same kind of thing when he was on the Knights so it’s to be expected.

Culf, the VGK have NEVER used a dirty player to take out opposing players. We have higher standards, thanks to owner Foley’s impeccable military career. Janmark NEVER attacked ANY goalie as a KNIGHT. If he was such a dirty player, as you say, then WHY did the OILERS pick him up?? And: KANE has been a dirty player since his early days, and he and Reaves went at it every time they played each other. Kane is one of the nastiest in the league.
It was obvious that Oilers’ mission was to try to disable Hill ANY WAY THEY COULD!!!

The CHARACTER of a team is determined by the players they choose, by the Owner’sINTEGRITY, by the Coach’s INTEGRITY.
What do these dirty players in the OILERS’ lineup say abput THEM?????

I was ready to draw a parallel between Hertl and Ovi coming up blank through four games of their current series then I saw Ovi scored one goal in game four for his lone point in the series. It will be interesting to see if LT makes a difference in game five. He did not the last two games.

The most positive spin I can put on this series is we played well games two and three enough to be ahead 2-1 going into game four and game four was EDM pushback plus I am not convinced other than Saad being out that Stone and Dorofeyev are 100% however mind you I have watched the game yet. I am right about playing well games two and three. Too early to throw in the towel!
