Bears new Arlington Heights stadium could be done by 2028!! ITS FINALLY HAPPENING!!

The Chicago Bears are on the cusp of a monumental transformation. After decades at Soldier Field, the team is poised to relocate to a state-of-the-art stadium in Arlington Heights, with construction slated to commence soon and a projected completion by 2028.

In February 2023, the Bears finalized the purchase of a 326-acre site in Arlington Heights for $197.2 million . This move signified the team’s commitment to developing a modern, enclosed stadium and entertainment district. The project is estimated to cost $5 billion, with $3.2 billion allocated for the stadium and $1.5 billion for surrounding infrastructure .

The envisioned stadium will feature a translucent roof and panoramic views, drawing inspiration from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis . Beyond football, the venue aims to host concerts, conventions, and other major events, revitalizing the region and creating thousands of jobs .

Initially, the Bears considered a lakefront stadium near Soldier Field. However, challenges related to public funding and opposition from preservation groups led the team to shift focus . In March 2025, team president Kevin Warren reaffirmed interest in both Arlington Heights and the lakefront site, highlighting the advantages of the Arlington Heights location, including scenic views and favorable geography .

The Arlington Heights site offers ample space for a comprehensive development, including hotels, retail outlets, and green spaces, enhancing the fan experience and contributing to the local economy .

Demolition of the former Arlington Park racetrack began in May 2023, clearing the way for construction . In November 2024, the Bears reached a tentative agreement with the village and local school districts regarding property taxes, resolving a significant hurdle .

With these challenges addressed, the Bears are moving forward with traffic and financial studies to ensure the project’s feasibility and minimize community impact .

The new stadium promises to enhance the fan experience with modern amenities, increased seating capacity, and year-round events. The development is expected to generate substantial economic benefits, including job creation and increased tourism .

As the Bears approach the 2028 season, fans can look forward to a new chapter in the team’s history, marked by innovation, community engagement, and a state-of-the-art home field.
