According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Gabe Vincent of the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns have been elected to be Vice Presidents on the NBPA Executive Committee.

In a significant development for the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), Los Angeles Lakers guard Gabe Vincent and New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns have been elected as Vice Presidents on the NBPA Executive Committee. This announcement was made on February 16, 2025, following the NBPA’s annual winter meeting of the Board of Player Representatives .
Vincent and Towns replace Malcolm Brogdon and Bismack Biyombo, who opted to step down at the end of their second terms as Vice Presidents. Brogdon and Biyombo were instrumental during their six-year tenures, contributing to pivotal moments in the NBPA’s history, including navigating the return to play during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and the successful negotiation of the current collective bargaining agreement in 2023 .
The new three-year terms for Vincent and Towns commenced immediately, alongside the re-election of Jaylen Brown for a third term as Vice President .
As Vice Presidents, Vincent and Towns will serve as part of the NBPA’s leadership committee, which is involved in strategic planning, business affairs, and policy-making decisions to carry out the NBPA’s work on behalf of all players .
Vincent expressed his excitement about the role, stating, “I’m thrilled to be on the NBPA Executive Committee; especially since we now have a former player leading the way in Andre [Iguodala]. With the new media rights deal set to kick in, and the potential for players to make more than they ever have before, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to help shape the future of our game” .
Towns, who has been in the league for a decade and has never missed a Union meeting, emphasized the importance of player empowerment, saying, “The players power this game, and I want to be in a position to find new ways to deliver value for my fellow players, on and off the court” .
The NBPA is the union for current professional basketball players in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Established in 1954, the NBPA’s mission is to protect and advance the rights of its players. It advocates on behalf of the best interests of all NBA players, including through the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, filing grievances, counseling on benefits, and educating on post-NBA career opportunities .
With the addition of Vincent and Towns to its Executive Committee, the NBPA continues to strengthen its leadership and commitment to representing the interests of NBA players.
