'I SHOULD NEVER HAVE LEFT' – £28 MILLION STAR WHO LEFT MANCHESTER United TO JOIN CHELSEA SAYS HE REGRET EVER LEAVING MANCHESTER UNITED

Juan Sebastian Veron publicly regretted his decision to leave Manchester United for Chelsea, saying he now wishes he had given it more careful consideration. Due to injuries that prevented him from displaying his full potential, Veron had a challenging time at Chelsea after a great start with United. That move is now one of the few decisions he regrets in his professional life.

In 2001, Veron became Manchester United’s most expensive signing, costing a huge £28.1 million. In 82 games, he scored 11 goals and helped United win the Premier League. He was famous for his skill and vision on the field. Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary manager of United, had great expectations for him. “I believe he’s entering the great years of his career, and he will peak, and we’ll get the benefit of that,” Ferguson said when he signed him. ‘He has a great idea for a game that we can employ and is a world-class football player.” But even though Ferguson was confident, Veron’s two-year career at United was cut short. In 2003, Chelsea, under their then owner Roman Abramovich, bought Veron as part of their ambitious project, hoping he’d be a big name for them.

Regretfully, things didn’t work out for Veron during his career at Chelsea. He had trouble playing because of a serious back injury that prevented him from playing for over six months. In the end, Veron admitted, “The truth is that I didn’t have much time at Chelsea. I missed over six months of work due to a serious back problem.” He only made fourteen appearances on the field and only scored one goal. Veron explained that he was already considering leaving England and maybe returning to Italy because of his injury.

Looking back on his career at Chelsea, Veron admitted that he was already thinking about returning to Italy instead of staying in England. “At Chelsea, the reality is that I had very little time. I had a major back injury and was out for practically six months,” Veron explained. “I was already thinking more about going back to Italy than staying there in England.”

He left because he wanted to play more, even though some of his former teammates had told him to stay and be patient. He now thinks that staying at United could have been a better option for him. “I had talks with my former colleagues at that time telling me that I had to stay,” he stated. “And because I wanted to play, I made the decision to leave at one point. I had no idea. I ought to have stayed.”
