J.T. Miller of the Canucks may waive the no-move clause for one team, according to an NHL insider.
Sportsnet analyst Nick Kypreos claims that J.T. Miller has chosen one team to which he would waive his no-move clause in order to assist a deal, as the forward’s name continues to dominate trade speculations.
Miller’s previous team would be the failing New York Rangers, where he began his NHL career and played for five seasons and a half until being traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Although he made it obvious that Miller would prefer to remain in Vancouver, Kypreos hinted that Miller’s wish to join the Rangers would force the Canucks to make a deal with New York.
In an interview with “Real Kyper & Bourne” on Thursday, Kypreos stated, “I feel like J.T. Miller has a no-move (clause) and doesn’t want to go anywhere.” “If this guy needs to green light (a trade), I do believe there’s one spot he would maybe lift his no-move and that would be the New York Rangers.”
Miller, 31, has openly denied having a problem with his teammate Elias Pettersson after becoming irritated with tensions in Vancouver.
Although the Canucks are willing to consider moves for both players, insiders like Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet think the team would rather they “grow up and figure it out” rather than just make trades for the sake of making trades.
Friedman stated on Thursday’s episode of The FAN Hockey Show that “the fact that it’s still a thing has begun to spill over elsewhere into the organization.” “[Coach Rick] Tocchet and [team captain Quinn] Hughes are obviously bothered by it.
“Vancouver is open to listening [to trade offers] on both players and will continue to do so.”
In the midst of an incredible downturn that has left New York far outside of the postseason spots after winning the President’s Trophy the previous year, the Rangers would benefit from having Miller join them as a veteran.
With no recent improvements, New York seems to be changing its roster in response to the slide after trading forward Kaapo Kakko and captain Jacob Trouba.
