Zechariah Poyser, a football player from Wildwood, will join the Miami Hurricanes in January.

The Jacksonville State Gamecocks defensive player is excited about a potential transfer to the Miami Hurricanes, which would be a dream come true for the exceptional safety. In January, he joins the team and begins attending the university.

According to the Miami Herald, the former Jackson State University player is a skilled starter at a high-priority position and is regarded as one of the best safeties in the transfer portal.

For Poyser, Miami will be a significant step forward. The Hurricanes, who finished in the Top 12 this season, narrowly missed qualifying for the College Football Playoff bracket.

Poyser finished the season with 75 tackles, three interceptions, and two fumble recoveries while playing for Jacksonville State.

Poyser turned 20 on December 15, the day before the transfer. Coach Vincent Brown was his coach at Wildwood Middle High School, where he played football and basketball. He played both defense and offense for the football team. He intends to major in sports management at Miami in the future.

Around sixth and seventh grade, the new Hurricanes player claimed to have begun to recognize his skill.

Poyser, the youngest of his family, played football with his older brother Joseph, who served as a major source of motivation, as well as other friends and brothers. He also took on household chores.

“I believe that growing up here was a blessing. Growing up in a familial setting was a blessing because everyone knows one another in the small city, Poyser said the Daily Commercial.

He attributes his inner faith, which would inspire him to accomplish great things in life, to his parents, Amanda and Collin Poyser.

Poyser frequently discusses his family and his faith. He is single and has a daughter named Za-Kylie who is one year old.

“My mom called me an old young man growing up, so I was always able to stay focused and keep God at the center of everything,” he stated.

For Poyser, this has been an exhilarating period. Through his social media accounts, he has been expressing how excited he is to play for the Hurricanes.

Poyser wrote on social media a few days earlier, “It has been a long time coming,” in reference to the transfer.

“Having the chance to step up my game makes me feel incredibly humbled and fortunate…. Since we only have one life to live, I’m using this to write my own tale.
