While Phil Foden scored a late goal in stoppage time to give City hope, Villa held firm to secure all three points. However, much of the focus from City fans fell on Guardiola’s insistence on keeping certain players, especially Ilkay Gundogan, on the pitch despite his struggles during the match.

Eventually, Guardiola substituted Gundogan in the 73rd minute, bringing on winger Savinho. Still, the damage had already been done, and City couldn’t find an equalizer.

Many supporters placed the blame squarely on Guardiola for persisting with players they believe are underperforming.
