Arsenal Star Reportedly Asks Agents to ‘Find Him a New Team’ Amid Napoli Interest

Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior has caught the attention of Napoli following his impressive performances this season. The Polish international has stepped up for the Gunners in recent games, filling in during Gabriel Magalhães’ absence, and his efforts have reportedly sparked interest from the Serie A giants.

Kiwior, 24, didn’t feature in Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Everton on Saturday, as he was an unused substitute. However, he started in the three matches prior and has delivered solid displays, showing significant improvement in his game. Reports suggest that the player is seeking more regular playing time and has asked his agents to explore transfer options, with Napoli emerging as a potential destination.

Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb claims that Kiwior’s management team, FairSport, is planning discussions with Napoli. FairSport also represents Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka, and this connection could strengthen the Italian club’s chances of landing the Polish defender. However, no concrete negotiations have been confirmed yet.

Kiwior joined Arsenal in January 2023 from Serie A side Spezia for a fee of £20 million. Since then, he has made 51 appearances for the Gunners, including 13 this season. His versatility and performances, particularly his two assists in the Carabao Cup against Preston North End, have made him a valuable asset for Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Despite Kiwior’s potential interest in leaving, Arsenal may be reluctant to let him go. The Gunners are currently dealing with a string of defensive injuries, including Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Riccardo Calafiori. With these setbacks, Arteta might find it challenging to offload a reliable defender like Kiwior, especially as Arsenal aim to stay competitive in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners have had a mixed start to the season and currently sit third in the league table. Injuries and inconsistent results have kept them six points off leaders Liverpool. Arteta expressed his frustration after the goalless draw against Everton, where Arsenal dominated but failed to convert their chances.

Speaking about the Everton game, Arteta said:
“I feel very disappointed not to win the game because, obviously, if there’s a team that deserved to win, it’s Arsenal. We gave nothing away, no shots conceded, dominated our play, not allowed them to run, no set pieces. High-press, excellent.

“We generated the chances, but the last 20 metres were missing to score goals. With all the dominance, you have to try to generate the highest winning probability. Even if we win, we always want more. But I cannot ask much more from the boys apart from putting the ball in the net.”

While Napoli seems keen to sign Kiwior, Arsenal must weigh their options carefully. With injuries piling up and their title aspirations at stake, the Gunners might hold onto Kiwior, who has proven to be a capable defender in Arteta’s system.

As the January transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen whether Napoli’s interest will turn into a serious offer and whether Arsenal will be willing to part ways with the talented Polish defender.
