Former Irmo HS standout infielder and UGA transfer Precious Bross has committed to South Carolina softball!
COLUMBIA, S.C. — In a massive pickup for head coach Bev Smith and the South Carolina Gamecocks, Precious Bross, a standout infielder and former Georgia Bulldog, has officially committed to South Carolina softball. The announcement marks a major homecoming for the former Irmo High School star, who now returns to the Midlands to help elevate a rapidly ascending SEC program.

A multi-time all-state selection at Irmo High School (SC), Bross made her mark as one of the most versatile and consistent infielders to come out of South Carolina in recent years. Known for her elite glove, smooth footwork, and gap-to-gap power, she was heavily recruited before ultimately signing with the Georgia Bulldogs.
After a promising freshman campaign in Athens, where she saw time at second base and shortstop, Bross entered the transfer portal following the 2024 season, citing a desire for more consistent playing time and a return to her home state.
Bross will arrive at South Carolina with multiple years of eligibility remaining and immediately bolster the Gamecocks’ infield depth. She’s expected to compete for a starting role at second base or shortstop, depending on how the Gamecocks restructure their middle infield.
