LSU’s Curiel, Evans named Freshman All-Americans

Derek Curiel, a freshman outfielder from West Covina, California, has had an outstanding debut season at LSU. His performance in the NCAA Tournament has been particularly impressive, hitting .455 with three doubles, one home run, seven RBIs, and 10 runs over six games. Curiel’s consistency at the plate is highlighted by a remarkable 43-game streak of reaching base safely, marking the fifth-longest on record in LSU baseball history. Right-handed pitcher Casan Evans, hailing from Houston, Texas, has also made a significant impact in his freshman year. With a 4-1 record, Evans boasts a 1.90 ERA and six saves across 47.1 innings pitched. He has struck out 65 batters while allowing only 19 walks, holding opponents to a .225 batting average.
