Fans Disappointed By News About Ohio State Legend Braxton Miller

Miller was a quarterback and wide receiver for the Buckeyes from 2011-2015. Not only was he named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year twice during that stretch, he won a national championship. He was then selected by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

With Miller’s football career officially in the rearview mirror, he has shifted his focus over to coaching youth basketball. The Ohio native currently coaches a 6th grade boys team in Columbus.

According to a referee named Idrees Ramsey, a wild incident involving Miller took place after an AAU game. Apparently, the former Ohio State star was livid that his team lost by one point.

Miller allegedly chucked a basketball at Ramsey’s back in a “vulgar and aggressive” manner after the game ended.

“After speaking with my mentors and respected colleagues in the officiating world, I was encouraged to share or ‘voluntarily told’ to mention what happened to me, so that, other area officials can be informed and aware,” Ramsey wrote on Facebook. “On Sunday, May 18th, after officiating a 6th grade boys basketball AAU game in Columbus, Ohio, an unfortunate incident occurred. Ohio State’s former star quarterback Braxton Miller, whose team (Charging) had just lost by one point, reacted inappropriately. As I walked away from the court toward the bench, he threw a basketball at my back in a vulgar and aggressive manner. This happened in front of 6th grade players, children who look to adults for examples of sportsmanship and respect.

“As a leader of young athletes, his behavior was deeply disappointing. Actions like this contribute to the growing culture of disrespect toward officials and are part of the reason why there’s a nationwide shortage in officiating. In my 12 combined years officiating high school and college basketball, I have never experienced a situation where I was physically struck by a person or object until that day. Sports, while competitive, are still just games. Let’s not lose sight of the responsibility we have to lead our young people.”

College football fans are obviously disappointed by Miller’s behavior. There’s just no place for that type of behavior in youth sports.

“That was lame and childish,” one fan commented.

“This needed to be exposed Braxton Miller or not. Who cares what the name is, garbage behavior needs to be known,” another person wrote.

“Smh this should’ve never happened. I’m glad you’re okay and hopefully you’re taking legal action,” a third Facebook user said.

Miller has not yet responded to these allegations. It’ll be interesting to hear what he has to say.
