Headed to the SEC Tourney Quarterfinals!
The Oklahoma Sooners men’s basketball team made a notable entrance into the Southeastern Conference (SEC) during the 2024–25 season. Under the leadership of head coach Porter Moser, the Sooners concluded the regular season with a 20–14 overall record and a 6–12 mark in conference play, positioning them as the No. 14 seed in the SEC Tournament .
In their SEC Tournament debut, the Sooners faced the 11th-seeded Georgia Bulldogs. Freshman guard Jeremiah Fears delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 29 points and leading Oklahoma to an 81–75 victory. This win not only marked the Sooners’ first postseason victory as SEC members but also showcased Fears’ emergence as a key contributor .
Advancing to the second round, Oklahoma encountered the 6th-seeded Kentucky Wildcats. In a closely contested game, the Sooners were edged out 85–84. Kentucky’s Otega Oweh secured the win with a decisive layup in the final seconds. Despite the loss, Oklahoma’s performance demonstrated their competitiveness and potential within the conference .
Throughout the season, Oklahoma achieved significant milestones, including winning the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. The team’s resilience and growth were evident as they adapted to the rigors of SEC competition.
