Baltimore Ravens have agreed to terms on a 1-year deal with NT John Jenkins.

In a strategic move to bolster their defensive line, the Baltimore Ravens have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with veteran nose tackle John Jenkins. The 35-year-old defensive lineman brings over a decade of NFL experience to the Ravens, having previously played for the New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and Las Vegas Raiders. Jenkins is expected to provide depth and leadership to a defensive front that has been a cornerstone of the Ravens’ success.

John Jenkins was originally selected by the New Orleans Saints in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. Over his 12-year career, he has accumulated 212 tackles, 2.5 sacks, four passes defensed, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Notably, Jenkins started all 17 games for the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2023 season, recording a career-high 61 tackles and one sack. He also scored his first career touchdown by recovering a fumble and returning it for a score against the Los Angeles Chargers.

In 2024, Jenkins re-signed with the Raiders on a one-year, $3.25 million deal. He continued to provide steady play along the defensive line, contributing to the team’s efforts against the run. His experience and consistency have made him a valuable asset to every team he’s been a part of.

The Ravens have been known for their stout run defense, and Jenkins’ addition is expected to further strengthen this aspect of their game. As a traditional nose tackle, Jenkins excels at occupying blockers and clogging running lanes, allowing linebackers to flow freely to the ball. His presence will provide rotational depth behind the starting defensive tackles, ensuring fresh legs throughout the game and reducing the risk of injuries.

Additionally, Jenkins’ leadership and experience will be invaluable to the younger players on the defensive line. His mentorship can accelerate the development of emerging talents, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence within the defensive unit.

The Ravens’ 2025 preseason schedule includes several key matchups that will allow Jenkins to integrate into the defensive scheme and build chemistry with his new teammates. Notable games include:

  • August 7, 2025: Indianapolis Colts @ Baltimore Ravens
  • August 16, 2025: Baltimore Ravens @ Dallas Cowboys
  • August 23, 2025: Baltimore Ravens @ Washington Commanders

These preseason games will provide Jenkins with the opportunity to showcase his skills and familiarize himself with the Ravens’ defensive system ahead of the regular season.

Off the field, Jenkins has been actively involved in community service throughout his career. He has participated in various charitable events and initiatives aimed at supporting underprivileged youth and promoting education. His commitment to giving back to the community aligns with the Ravens’ values and culture. Jenkins’ involvement in community outreach programs will further strengthen the bond between the team and its supporters.

With the addition of John Jenkins, the Ravens’ defensive line gains a seasoned veteran capable of making an immediate impact. His experience, leadership, and skill set will be instrumental in maintaining the team’s defensive prowess. As the 2025 season approaches, the Ravens are poised to continue their tradition of excellence on the defensive side of the ball, with Jenkins playing a key role in their success.
