Ohio Ms. Basketball finalist Bryn Martin flips commitment to Ohio State women’s program

In a significant development for the Ohio State women’s basketball program, Bryn Martin, a standout guard from Springboro High School in Ohio, has officially committed to the Buckeyes. Martin, a 6-foot-1 senior, had previously signed with the University of Washington but has now decided to join Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class.
During her senior season, Martin delivered exceptional performances, averaging 23 points, 5.1 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. Her shooting accuracy was remarkable, with a field goal percentage of 52.4%, a three-point shooting percentage of 37.6%, and an impressive 86.8% from the free-throw line. These statistics underscore her all-around capabilities and scoring prowess.
Martin’s contributions were pivotal in leading Springboro to the Division I state semifinals, marking their second consecutive appearance. Her performance in the state tournament was particularly noteworthy, as she set a Division I state tournament record by scoring 38 points in a semifinal game against Pickerington Central.
Initially, Martin had committed to the University of Washington, citing a strong connection with the coaching staff and the program’s playing style. However, after careful consideration, she has chosen to flip her commitment to Ohio State. This decision brings her closer to home and aligns with her aspirations to compete at the highest level of collegiate basketball.
Ohio State’s women’s basketball program has been on an upward trajectory, and Martin’s addition is expected to bolster their backcourt depth and scoring options. Her versatility and experience will be valuable assets as the team looks to build upon its recent successes.
Martin’s exceptional talent has not gone unnoticed. She was a finalist for the prestigious Ms. Ohio Basketball award for two consecutive years, highlighting her standing as one of the state’s top players. Additionally, she was nominated for the McDonald’s All-American game, further attesting to her national recognition.
With her commitment to Ohio State, Martin is poised to make an immediate impact on the program. Her scoring ability, leadership, and work ethic will be instrumental as the Buckeyes aim for continued success in the competitive landscape of women’s college basketball.
