USA Baseball Announces Golden Spike Award Semifinalists

USA Baseball has unveiled the 25 semifinalists for the 2024 Golden Spikes Award, a prestigious honor recognizing the top amateur baseball player in the United States. The award, established in 1978, celebrates exceptional on-field performance and exemplary sportsmanship. The 46th Golden Spikes Award winner will be announced on June 22 during the College World Series finals, airing on ESPN.

The 2024 semifinalists represent 20 institutions across various conferences, with notable representation from the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), and American Athletic Conference (AAC). Among the group, five schools—East Carolina, Florida State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Wake Forest—have two players each named as semifinalists. Additionally, eight athletes have made the list after the Midseason Watch List announcement in April.

• Jac Caglianone (Florida): A returning finalist from 2023, Caglianone has continued to impress with his dual-threat capabilities as a left-handed pitcher and first baseman.
• Charlie Condon (Georgia): Currently ranked as the No. 1 MLB Draft prospect, Condon’s performance has solidified his position among the top contenders.
• Travis Bazzana (Oregon State): Ranked No. 2 among Draft prospects, Bazzana’s contributions have been pivotal for the Beavers.
• Braden Montgomery (Texas A&M): A versatile player excelling both as an outfielder and pitcher, Montgomery is ranked No. 5 among Draft prospects.
• Hagen Smith (Arkansas): Ranked No. 6, Smith’s pitching prowess has been a key asset for the Razorbacks.
