Westview’s (Class of 2026) Noah Bontrager has announced his verbal commitment to Notre Dame Cross Country.
Noah Bontrager, a standout runner from Westview Jr./Sr. High School in Shipshewana, Indiana, has verbally committed to join the University of Notre Dame’s cross country team. This announcement marks a significant milestone in the Class of 2026 athlete’s burgeoning career, underscoring his rapid ascent in the world of high school cross country.
Bontrager’s journey to collegiate athletics began in junior high, where he set multiple school records. In his freshman year, he shattered a 29-year-old high school record at the Indiana Wesleyan University semistate race with a time of 15:20, surpassing Ervin Slabach’s previous record of 15:22 . His performance at the 2024 state meet further solidified his reputation, as he finished as the state runner-up with a time of 14:51.2 .
In addition to his cross country success, Bontrager excelled in track and field. He secured a fifth-place finish in the 3200 meters at the state finals and clinched the state championship in the small school indoor 3200m event
Bontrager’s national profile grew when he competed at the 2024 Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in San Diego. He finished 16th nationally with a time of 15:51.2, placing him among the top high school cross country runners in the United States .
