Ohio State Buckeyes 5-Star Sean Stewart Commits to Oregon Ducks From Transfer Portal
In a significant development in college basketball, former Ohio State forward Sean Stewart has committed to the University of Oregon, marking his third collegiate team in as many years. The 6-foot-9, 220-pound power forward from Windermere, Florida, made the announcement on May 7, 2025, following a season with the Buckeyes where he started all 30 games and averaged 5.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Stewart’s basketball journey began at Windermere High School, where he averaged 20.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, 2.3 steals, and 4.6 blocks per game as a junior. He later transferred to Montverde Academy, a renowned basketball powerhouse in Florida, for his senior year. During his time at Montverde, Stewart’s performance solidified his status as a top recruit in the 2023 class. He was selected to play in the 2023 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game, where he won the slam dunk competition.
Stewart began his collegiate career at Duke University, where he played in 33 games during the 2023–2024 season. Despite limited playing time, averaging 8.3 minutes per game, he showcased his potential with a field goal percentage of 57.1%. His standout performances included a 16-point, 10-rebound game against La Salle and a 12-point outing against NC State.
In the 2024 offseason, Stewart transferred to Ohio State, seeking increased playing time and a more prominent role. Under the guidance of head coach Jake Diebler, who had previously recruited him out of high school, Stewart became a key starter for the Buckeyes. His contributions were notable, especially in a game against Oregon in January 2025, where he recorded 14 points, nine rebounds, and two steals, despite Ohio State’s narrow 73–71 loss.
