DeBoer’s Endorsement

Coach DeBoer has expressed strong confidence in Simpson’s abilities. During the Senior Bowl practices in Mobile, Alabama, DeBoer highlighted Simpson’s growth and readiness:(SI)

“You certainly appreciate what he’s done. Just continued to work on what he can control—and that’s himself. Continued to build relationships to get ready for this chance that he has right in front of him to not just step up as a leader, because I think he’s been doing that, but to have that opportunity to step in and be the quarterback.” (SI)

DeBoer emphasized Simpson’s consistency and improvement throughout the spring, noting his accuracy, touch, and command of the offense. He also commended Simpson’s pocket awareness and decision-making under pressure. (The Crimson White)

Despite Simpson’s endorsement, Alabama’s quarterback room remains competitive. Austin Mack, a transfer from Washington, and incoming five-star freshman Keelon Russell are also vying for the starting position. Mack brings experience from his time at Washington, while Russell enters with high expectations after a standout high school career. (SBNation.com)

Simpson’s leadership extends beyond the field. In a conversation with DeBoer, Simpson expressed his long-term commitment to Alabama:

“I told Coach DeBoer in our first meeting, ‘You are the successor of Coach Saban, now I want to be the successor to you when you retire here.'” (wtug.com)

This statement reflects Simpson’s deep-rooted connection to the program and his aspiration to continue Alabama’s tradition of excellence.

As Alabama prepares for the 2025 season, Ty Simpson stands as a strong candidate to lead the offense. With Coach DeBoer’s endorsement and Simpson’s dedication and experience, the Crimson Tide look poised for another successful campaign.
