Three Texas Longhorns are finalists for Softball Player of the Year.
The University of Texas softball program has made history by having three of its standout athletes named finalists for the prestigious USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award. Sophomore catcher and first baseman Reese Atwood has had a phenomenal season, setting multiple records and earning numerous accolades. She shattered Texas’ single-season records for home runs (22), RBIs (88), and total bases (154). Atwood also posted a .433 batting average, a .488 on-base percentage, and a .901 slugging percentage. Her performance included 24 multi-RBI games and an 11-game hitting streak. Freshman pitcher Teagan Kavan has made an immediate impact, earning a spot among the top 10 finalists for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award. Kavan’s standout performances include a no-hitter against Missouri and a key role in Texas’ success during the Women’s College World Series (WCWS).
