Okot’s international exposure continued to grow as she became the only Kenyan player selected for the Nike Hoop Summit, joining Team World in 2023. This prestigious event further showcased her skills and potential, leading to increased interest from U.S. collegiate programs.


Mississippi State: A Stepping Stone

In August 2024, Okot’s dream of playing basketball in the United States became a reality when she secured a full scholarship to Mississippi State University. After overcoming multiple visa rejections, her persistence paid off, allowing her to join the Bulldogs for the 2024-25 season.

At Mississippi State, Okot made an immediate impact. In a game against Maryland-Eastern Shore, she scored 26 points, demonstrating her scoring ability and presence in the paint . Throughout the season, she averaged 12.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, establishing herself as a formidable force in the SEC.

Her time at Mississippi State provided her with invaluable experience in one of the most competitive conferences in women’s college basketball. Under the mentorship of head coach Sam Purcell, Okot honed her skills and prepared for the next step in her basketball journey.
