The position of Nick Sheridan on the Alabama football coaching staff for 2025 has been announced.

Nick Sheridan, a seasoned football coach with a diverse background, has been appointed as the quarterbacks coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide for the 2025 season. This announcement comes after a period of uncertainty regarding his role within the coaching staff. Sheridan’s extensive experience and previous tenure with Alabama’s head coach, Kalen DeBoer, position him as a pivotal figure in the team’s offensive strategy.

Coaching Career and Experience

Sheridan’s coaching journey began shortly after his playing days at the University of Michigan, where he served as a quarterback from 2006 to 2010. Transitioning into coaching, he started as a graduate assistant at Western Kentucky in 2011, before moving to South Florida in 2013 in a similar capacity. His first significant coaching role was at the University of Tennessee, where he served as a graduate assistant from 2014 to 2016. In 2017, Sheridan joined the University of Indiana as the quarterbacks coach, a position he held until 2018. He then transitioned to coaching tight ends at Indiana in 2019. In 2020, he was promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Indiana, a role he maintained through 2021. Following his tenure at Indiana, Sheridan served as the tight ends coach at the University of Washington in 2022 and 2023. In February 2024, he reunited with Kalen DeBoer at Alabama, taking on the roles of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. citeturn0search15

Role at Alabama

In his capacity as quarterbacks coach for the 2025 season, Sheridan is expected to work closely with the team’s quarterbacks, focusing on skill development, game preparation, and strategic execution. His prior experience with DeBoer, who became Alabama’s head coach in 2024, is anticipated to foster a cohesive offensive strategy. Sheridan’s familiarity with DeBoer’s coaching philosophy and offensive schemes is expected to be advantageous in implementing a unified approach to the team’s offensive play.

Impact on the Team

Sheridan’s appointment is expected to have a significant impact on the Alabama Crimson Tide’s offensive performance. His extensive coaching background, particularly in developing quarterbacks and coordinating offenses, positions him as a valuable asset to the team. The continuity provided by his previous collaboration with DeBoer is anticipated to facilitate a seamless transition and effective implementation of offensive strategies.
