To win at a championship level, the Vols need more than just their own players.
North Carolina, Georgia, and other talent-rich adjacent states are important places for UT to recruit.
However, recruiting the top players from Volunteer State is essential to the team’s success, and UT made a significant move in the last month.
Four Tennessee Mr. Football finalists or winners were added by UT during the December early signing period. Additionally, Amari Jefferson, the 2023 Tennessee Mr. Football winner, was removed from the transfer site by UT on Tuesday.
After graduating from high school, Jefferson decided to sign with Alabama rather than the Vols. However, the wide receiver will transfer to UT with four seasons of eligibility left after taking a redshirt as a rookie.
This offseason, UT lost one Tennessee Mr. Football champion and finalists and added five. Omari Thomas, a defensive lineman who was named Briarcrest Christian’s 2019 Mr. Football, announced his intention to enter the NFL Draft.
UT’s 2025 roster now includes 12 Tennessee Mr. Football finalists and winners.
