Auburn Tigers News: Bruce Pearl reacts to 214th win, Johni Broome on beating Texas

According to today's Auburn Tigers News, Johni Broome responds to the victory over Texas, and Bruce Pearl is the most successful coach in Auburn basketball history.

Bruce Pearl has surpassed the renowned previous coach Joel Eaves with the victory over the Texas Longhorns, bringing his total number of victories as the Tigers’ coach to 214 throughout his tenure on the Plains. In typical Bruce Pearl manner, the Tigers’ head coach was quick to thank Auburn for the opportunity and to commend the coaches that came before him.

Joel Eaves? Smith, Sonny? Ellis, Coach? Bruce Pearl? I’ll spend my entire life with that group of people. According to Auburn Undercover, Pearl said, “All day, every day.” “So, this only serves to honor those men and the outstanding coaches that have been here.

“All I want to do is thank Auburn for providing me with this chance. That’s my perspective. I simply try to give Auburn something for allowing me to be a part of this Auburn family and for providing me the opportunity to coach their basketball team when I go to work every day. I sincerely appreciate our coaches and the players, so please accept my gratitude.”

Being up against the Longhorns for the entire forty minutes made it difficult for the Tigers to earn Pearl’s 214th victory. The Tigers led 39-27 at the half, but the Longhorns were within one possession away from matching the score at the end of the second half.

Although Texas put up a strong fight, Johni Broome believes the victory demonstrates how strong the Tigers are this season.

According to Auburn Rivals, Broome stated, “You know, it just shows how we are as a team,” “That basketball team is excellent. They made a number of difficult shots in the closing minutes. Their first half run was followed by a larger one in the second half. However, when the game came down to a single possession, we demonstrated our unity and resilience.”

On Saturday, Auburn basketball will resume play at noon when they travel to South Carolina.
