According to 247sports.com, LSU football coach Brian Kelly continues to have the nation’s top-ranked transfer portal class. But with 14 additions, he isn’t sitting back and enjoying himself.
Keionte Scott, a junior cornerback and kick returner for Auburn, has been staying with Kelly and his staff since Monday. Tuesday was supposed to be the last day of his visit. Scott (6-foot-2, 192) joined the portal following Auburn’s 2024 regular season. Due in part to an ankle ailment and in part to being outplayed by rookie Jay Crawford, he only started four games last season.
Scott leads the SEC in punt return average and is a returner as well.
in 2023 with an average of 14.8 yards. In 2022, he started nine games, and in 2023, ten. Scott transferred from Snow College to a junior college, and thanks to recent NCAA decisions that permit JUCO transfers, he will have one additional year of eligibility in 2025. In 2022, he ranked as the top cornerback among JUCO players in the US. Scott attended La Mesa, California’s Helix High.
On Thursday, North Carolina State’s redshirt freshman starting safety Tamarcus Cooley is anticipated to pay LSU a visit. In the previous season, Cooley (5-11, 205 pounds) recorded 39 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. He signed as a three-star talent out of Rolesville, North Carolina, and spent his true freshman season in 2023 as a deep reserve at Maryland.
This weekend, the Tigers will host Texas A&M’s blocking tight end Donovan Green (6-4, 265). During his three seasons with the Aggies, the third-year sophomore caught 22 passes for 222 yards.
In 2024, SEC football had a bad year.
Elijah Pritchett (6-6, 312 pounds), a starting junior right tackle for Alabama, recently registered on the portal as the five-day window for players participating in postseason games was coming to an end on Sunday. LSU might be interested in him. Last week, Alabama finished 9-4 at the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa after losing to 7-5 Michigan, 19–13. This is the Tide’s poorest record since Nick Saban’s first season in 2007 (7–6).
Pritchett has not yet expressed interest in LSU and is scheduled to visit Nebraska. He signed with Saban in 2022 as a four-star prospect from Columbus, Georgia, and was a backup in 2023 and 2022.
The next portal window will run from April 16-25.
