An early look at Georgia football’s schedule for 2025

After losing in the Sugar Bowl to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Georgia Bulldogs’ 2024 collegiate football season is finished. What can Georgia supporters anticipate next? The 2025 college football season, which kicks off on August 30, 2025, is the first example.
With more than eight months to go until Georgia’s 2025 season begins, we hardly know who will be on the team. However, we are aware of Georgia’s opponents for the upcoming campaign. The Bulldogs’ schedule is easier to handle than the 2024 schedule, but Dawg supporters will enjoy a better home schedule.
In 2025, Georgia’s SEC schedule consists of eight games. The SEC opponents on Georgia’s 2025 schedule are identical to those on Georgia’s 2024 SEC schedule. The sole distinction is that Georgia will play SEC opponents in 2025 at the opposite venue (home versus away) from 2024.
The Bulldogs have an amazing home schedule for 2025. Powerhouses like Ole Miss, Texas, and Alabama are among many that call Georgia home. Georgia has a 31-game home winning run going into the 2025 season, but going undefeated at home will be extremely difficult.
Following UCLA’s cancellation of a game against Georgia, Georgia’s nonconference schedule is not ideal. In nonconference play, UGA will take on Marshall, Austin Peay, Charlotte, and Georgia Tech.
In 2025, Georgia will only play seven home games, two neutral site games, and three away games. Even though Georgia’s 2025 playoff journey won’t be simple, at least its toughest games will be played at home.
The 2025 regular season schedule for Georgia football
Marshall Thundering Herd (home) Week 1
Date: 30 August
UCLA was originally planned by Georgia, but after UCLA joined the Big Ten, the schools decided to cancel. Georgia will play Marshall, who finished 10-3 in 2024 and easily won the Sun Belt Conference, in place of UCLA. Marshall might be superior to UCLA, who finished 5-7 in the Big Ten.
Location: Athens, Georgia’s Sanford Stadium
Georgia 13, Marshall 3 (2004) was the last encounter.
Week 2: Austin Peay Govenors (home)
Date: 6 September
Austin Peay, an FCS opponent, finished 2024 with a 4-8 record.
Location: Athens, Georgia’s Sanford Stadium
Last meeting: Austin Peay 0 vs. Georgia 45 (2018)
Week 3: Tennessee Volunteers (away)
Date: 13 September
Next season, Nico Iamaleava is anticipated to be the quarterback for Tennessee. For the first time since 2015, Tennessee will attempt to overcome Georgia in Knoxville, Tennessee. Ohio State defeated Tennessee in the College Football Playoffs to wrap up a 10-3 season.
Location: Knoxville, Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium
Last game (2024): Tennessee 17, Georgia 31
Week 5: Alabama Crimson Tide (home)
Date: 27 September
Georgia struggles to overcome the Alabama Crimson Tide, but after Alabama hosted two straight games, Georgia finally gets a home game in the rivalry. With a 9-4 record at the end of the 2024 season, Alabama suffered their most losses since the first season under Nick Saban.
Location: Athens, Georgia’s Sanford Stadium
Georgia 34, Alabama 41 in the most recent game (2024)
Week 6: Kentucky Wildcats (home)
Date: 4 October
In the fall of 2024, Kentucky and now-retired quarterback Brock Vandagriff came very close to defeating Georgia. Games between the Wildcats and Dawgs are always played in person. In 2024, Kentucky only finished 4-8, but they pulled off a huge upset against Ole Miss.
Location: Athens, Georgia’s Sanford Stadium
Last game (2024): Kentucky 12, Georgia 13.
