The return of Kalen DeBoer’s right-hand man to Tuscaloosa is predicted by an Alabama analyst.
Kalen DeBoer, the head football coach of Alabama, brought many members of his Washington staff to Tuscaloosa, but Ryan Grubb, his right-hand man, resigned before he could really get started to accept a position with the Seattle Seahawks.
It goes without saying that neither the Seahawks nor the Crimson Tide had a successful season. Lance Taylor of The Next Round Live thinks DeBoer might reunite the entire band and bring back Grubb this offseason.
“I think you’ll run across Ryan Grubb in Tuscaloosa. On Friday’s episode of The Next Round, Taylor stated, “I believe the entire group is reuniting.”
Grubb stated in February that the NFL was always his calling, which is why he declined to assist DeBoer in developing Alabama’s football program.
According to The Tuscaloosa News, Grubb stated, “I honestly thought about that process a lot of times, so just in this situation (this time) made it tougher.” “I wanted to support him while he (DeBoer) was starting it at Alabama, but I knew that this was what I wanted to do in the end if the right circumstance arose.”
The hardest thing, in my opinion, was the timing, which is really hard to explain. We all aware that this day would arrive, and I’m thrilled for Kalen because I know he will perform admirably at Alabama.
Here (in Seattle), nothing was set. I had to continue working at the position I had accepted, which was offensive coordinator for Alabama, while Mike went through his process and tried to make the best choices he could for the Seahawks. I had to have faith in the process and know everything would work out properly.
Alabama needs an offensive lift following a terrible ReliaQuest Bowl final in which they lost to Michigan 19–13 as three-score favorites. Not to add that in Week 13, the Crimson Tide suffered their worst loss of the season, losing to Oklahoma by just three points.
Despite having a league-average offense and a 9-7 record, the Seahawks missed the playoffs as Geno Smith regressed.
DeBoer might require Grubb, but Grubb might not need DeBoer. This offseason, we’ll see if that results in any reunions.
