Alabama Uses Transfer Portal to Add Former Ball State Offensive Lineman
Arkel Anugwom is the seventh new player to join the Crimson Tide.
According to Andrew Bone of On3, the Crimson Tide recruited former Ball State offensive lineman Arkel Anugwom on Friday night, capping a day that saw three transfers leave the Alabama football team.
Using the images and videos he captured during his most recent trip to Tuscaloosa, Anugwom also made the news himself.
The sophomore redshirt will still be eligible for three more years. Anugwom, who stands 6 feet 6 and weighs 325 pounds, would rank in the top 10 for heaviest player and would be tied for the second-tallest on the current roster.
The 6-foot-6, 325-pound athlete signed up for Ball State in 2023, but on December 9, 2024, he logged into the transfer site. Anugwom left Nigeria before his final year to play football at Antioch High School in Antioch, Tennessee.
Joining former Cal long snapper David Bird, former Florida defensive lineman Kelby Collins, former Utah cornerback Cam Calhoun, former Texas A&M offensive lineman Kam Dewberry, former Miami wide receiver Isaiah Horton, former Colorado linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green, and former Colorado School of Mines punter Blake Doud, Anugwom is the eighth incoming Tide transfer.
Along with Anugwom and Dewberry, Alabama’s 2025 class included three-star Mal Waldrep, four-star Jackson Lloyd, five-star Michael Carroll, and four-star Micah DeBose as offensive lineman. Although he hasn’t yet signed his national letter of intent, five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood is likewise dedicated to the Crimson Tide.
So far, Alabama has lost two offensive lineman through the transfer portal: Miles McVay and Naquil Betrand.
