Jamie Carragher, the former Liverpool defender and now a Sky Sports pundit, believes that Darwin Nunez might not be a Liverpool player for much longer. Speaking during a watchalong for The Overlap while watching Liverpool’s thrilling 3-3 draw against Newcastle, Carragher suggested that the Uruguayan striker may “move on” from Anfield within the next 12 months.
“I’m not sure he’s here next year. I think he’ll probably move on,” Carragher said, comparing Nunez to a former Liverpool fan favorite. “He’s more like a cult hero because he’s a bit mad and likes to run around, but he’s better than [Divock] Origi.”
Nunez’s performance at St James’ Park highlighted both his strengths and weaknesses. While he showed energy and effort, he missed a golden opportunity to score when Cody Gakpo’s header set him up perfectly. Unfortunately, he failed to connect, and Liverpool later conceded a late equalizer, making the miss even more costly.
