"Although 'he's sharp like a knife', This is what we have to do to win" — Rodri Reveals Key Tips for Man City to Secure Victory at Anfield

Manchester City’s star midfielder Rodri has shared how tough it is to play against Liverpool, especially during his first season in the Premier League. Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Rodri admitted that facing Liverpool back then was one of the hardest experiences of his career.

Rodri revealed that Liverpool’s team during his debut season was “unbelievable” and the best he has ever faced. He struggled against them, as they were playing at their peak.

He also praised Mohamed Salah, calling him “like a knife” because of how sharp and dangerous he is on the pitch. Unlike flashy players like Neymar or Vinícius Júnior, Salah stands out for his ability to score and assist consistently.

“I haven’t seen any player that way,” Rodri said, highlighting how hard it is to play against the Egyptian forward.

Since joining City in 2019, Rodri has faced Liverpool 10 times in the Premier League. Out of those games, he’s only won three, drawn five, and lost two. Salah’s impact has been huge in those matches, scoring six goals and assisting three times.

Even though Rodri is injured and won’t play in the upcoming game, City knows how important it is to win at Anfield. Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri’s teammate, admitted that playing at Anfield is always difficult. He said: “Anfield is always tough. We’ve struggled in recent years.”

Gundogan also explained that winning is crucial to stay in the title race. If they lose, an 11-point gap could be too big to close.

City hasn’t had much success at Anfield, only winning there twice in the Premier League era. With the team currently struggling, they’ll need to give everything to secure a victory. Without Rodri in midfield, the challenge becomes even harder.

As City prepares for their next game at Anfield, they know they must step up to get the win and keep their title hopes alive.
