"Everyone at City Knows" — Enzo Maresca puts an end to debate on Chelsea Star

Enzo Maresca reveals why Manchester City let Cole Palmer leave and how Chelsea has unlocked his full potential.

Enzo Maresca praises Cole Palmer, highlighting Manchester City's belief in his talent despite his move to Chelsea for more game time.
Chelsea’s head coach Enzo Maresca has spoken out to clarify an old and often misinformed debate about Cole Palmer, who has become one of Chelsea’s most pivotal players since joining the club.

Though Palmer only arrived at Chelsea just over a year ago, he has quickly established himself as a key figure in the squad. His stunning performances last season, where he topped the team’s charts for both goals and assists, have turned him into a household name not only in England but across the footballing world.

Without Palmer, Chelsea might have faced a disastrous season. His contributions were so significant that many believe he single-handedly carried the team through some of its toughest moments.

When Palmer left Manchester City, some skeptics questioned his abilities, suggesting that if Pep Guardiola was willing to sell him, he might not have been good enough. However, Maresca has firmly dismissed these claims, emphasizing that the sale had nothing to do with Palmer’s quality.

In a recent press conference, Maresca said:
“Everyone at City knew how good Cole [Palmer] is. The only issue was that with so many top players at City, it was hard to give them all enough game time. There was never any doubt about Cole’s talent.”

Maresca’s comments reveal that Palmer’s departure from Manchester City was more about circumstances than ability. With the level of competition at City, it was tough for him to secure regular minutes. Thankfully for Chelsea, this opened the door for them to sign a player who has since thrived in a prominent role.

It’s now clear that Palmer’s move wasn’t a reflection of his ability, and Manchester City might even wish they still had him in their team today. Chelsea, on the other hand, continues to reap the benefits of having one of the most exciting young talents in football.
