David Raya speaks out about Arsenal’s underwhelming start to the season and their need to refocus for a Premier League title challenge.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has opened up about the team’s disappointing start to the Premier League season and said that the Gunners need to stop making excuses and focus on getting back on track if they want to challenge for the title.

As of now, Arsenal are nine points behind league leaders Liverpool after struggling to get results in their recent matches. They drew 2-2 with Chelsea and lost 1-0 to Newcastle. Despite being in second place in the past two seasons, Arsenal has been struggling to find consistency.

Raya, speaking to Mundo Deportivo, admitted that the team hasn’t performed as expected but believes they can still turn things around. He said, “We didn’t start the season as we wanted, especially after the last two games, which were difficult. But we can’t make excuses. We need to keep moving forward. We deserved more from the Chelsea and Newcastle matches, and we will keep working hard to improve. We have a great group, and we can still compete for the Premier League.”

Manager Mikel Arteta also shared his thoughts, saying that the team must focus on what’s ahead and not get stuck thinking about past games. He pointed out that injuries and fitness issues have played a big part in the team’s struggles.

After the Chelsea draw, Arteta said, “We can’t change what has happened. What I want now is to have the whole team fit and ready to play after the international break. The past eight weeks have been very tough with injuries, and some players can’t play for long stretches or can’t train. The desire and effort from the team are there, so I’m confident things will improve once we get everyone fit.”

Looking ahead, Arsenal has a crucial period of matches after the international break. If they are to stay in the title race, they will need to win consistently and take advantage of any mistakes by Liverpool.
