"I Want to Return to Spain" – Marc Cucurella Hints at Future exit and Move Back to Spain Despite current form at Chelsea

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has opened up about his future, expressing his desire to eventually return to Spain. Although he has found a new rhythm at Chelsea, Cucurella recently spoke about his career journey and future goals with Radioestadio Noche, a Spanish radio show.

Cucurella moved to Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022 in a £60 million deal. While he was a regular starter in his first season, he struggled to keep his place under manager Mauricio Pochettino. This season, however, he’s been a key part of Chelsea’s defense under new head coach Enzo Maresca, missing just one Premier League game.

After a strong performance against Arsenal, where he successfully contained their star player Bukayo Saka, Cucurella is now with the Spanish national team, preparing for UEFA Nations League matches against Denmark and Switzerland.

During his recent interview, Cucurella shared how difficult the past few years have been for him, mentioning the injuries and setbacks he faced. However, he also talked about how rewarding it was to make it to the European Championships with Spain after so many challenges. “It was a tough few months, but in the end, you learn from everything,” Cucurella said. “Now I’m in a very good moment, and the fans are very supportive.”

Though Cucurella is currently settled in London and says his family has adapted well, he still dreams of playing in Spain again one day. “In the future, I would like to return to Spain,” he admitted, signaling that while he’s happy at Chelsea for now, he may look to make that move down the line.
